It's been a while, hasn't it! I'm pretty bad at keeping this up to date. Here's a small assortment of things from over the summer. First one is acrylic on canvas (small, 12x16), the last three are from the silkscreen class I took. Out of those, the first one is my final, a series on Jonestown, the second is of ubiquitous local eccentric Frank Chu in the style of Ralph Steadman, and the last is of some owls.
Also, we just got back from Southern California (we stayed in Redondo Beach but spent a good amount of time in LA) and aside from the hot hot weather during the day, it was pretty nice.

Well it certainly has been long enough. The first one is going to be on display at Freedm Night on the 27th and the second one, well I lost my head last night, so to speak.

Sadly, I'm selling my ticket for Joanna Newsom tomorrow night because I am up to my eyeballs in finals.
We recently finished watching both seasons of Twin Peaks. I'm rather disappointed with the ending, as well as part of the middle of the second season because some of it just seemed like filler before the end of the season, which remains unresolved. Overall, though, it was pretty good.

A few things from Monday afternoon while listening to some submissions that weren't all that bad. Sebadoh are go for Noise Pop 2007.
Will and I saw the Hold Steady last week at the Great American. The crowd was mostly guys and there was a girl who had someone write "Jesus lived and died for all your sins" under the back of her neck. We weren't sure at first, but we were relieved when we saw that it was marker.

We saw Thunderbirds Are Now! at Bottom of the Hill on Thursday night. You Say Party We Say Die! couldn't make it across the US border so as a substitute, Helium Bar and Luxxury played and neither were very good (flashback: that Icarus Line show with Mahjongg - "Why are we still watching this band?"). TAN! however, did put on a very good show. They didn't play any older songs, but there was plenty from Justamustache and Make History, which I have yet to hear.

NP2K7 Submission Listenfest update: Some of those bands are massively, massively terrible. Others, I have no idea how or where they even hear about the festival, because there certainly are a lot of mismatched bands and singers. Evidently nu-metal is still alive and kicking.
The new Hold Steady is pretty good. It'll probably take a while to grow on me like Separation Sunday did, but it's still pretty good.
